Overview

A true home from home.

Tudor Cottage is a well-respected, family run residential home in Devon, established for over 35 years. The home has been owned by Sandra Joyce since August 2008. Sandra owns other care establishments and brings a wealth of experience to the home.

They say “home is where you feel most comfortable”. With only 19 beds, we offer a warm and welcoming home. At Tudor Cottage we believe life is precious and worth celebrating every day and we offer a home in which people can thrive. Everything we do is designed to enhance the dignity, independence and individuality of the residents.

We provide personalised care with activities of daily living. We focus on keeping residents as independent as possible. We recognise and provide a safe place for people to live well with dementia. We start by understanding their life history in order that we can help them maintain and engage with the enjoyment that activities can bring through reminiscence, music, pet therapy, arts and crafts and engaging with the local community. This provides residents with the enjoyment of activities that they are familiar with and helps them return to a place in time that brought them much joy and comfort.

Tudor Cottage offers a mix of single and companion rooms. Most of the rooms are en-suite with assisted bathrooms available on each floor. We offer long-term care, respite and day care on a flexible basis. The Registered Manager, Mandy Larcombe, with her team of well trained and dedicated staff provide personalised care with each residents’ daily activities of living by assigning a Key worker who gets to know them and their family.

Tudor Cottage is situated in the centre of Axminster with easy access to the town’s amenities and community services. We provide regular trips out to the seaside, Seaton Tramway, or to the local coffee shops and tea rooms, and we provide in-house facilities including our visiting chiropodist, opticians and hairdresser.
Our residents can choose to spend time in our dining areas and sitting rooms – the Inglenook with open fireplace and oak beams, or the Garden Lounge with lovely views of the courtyard garden. Daily newspapers are delivered to the home as required and we also publish an In-house magazine called ‘Tudor Times’ highlighting news relevant to the home and its residents. As meal times are a large part of the day, we offer residents a buffet style breakfast, a choice of home-cooked meals with the meat, fruit and vegetables coming from our local Axminster suppliers. On Fridays we provide a themed menu which corresponds with seasons, special events, commemoration days or even a "day" created especially for that Friday!

Come to visit us and see for yourself how friendly and caring we are!
