Overview

Devonshire House is a small, family run residential home situated in the picturesque village of West Auckland, County Durham. Opened in 1986 we have retained a reputation for providing high standards of care to our residents.

Our aim is to provide quality care in a safe and comfortable environment.

The home is a converted period home located in the centre of the village overlooking the village green and caters for 25 residents over 3 floors which can be easily accessed by a lift. A number of our rooms enjoy views over the green and surrounding countryside. Our location ensures that the home remains a part of the local community and many of our residents retain access to the local shops, pubs and hotel.

All residents of Devonshire House are encouraged to live their life the way that they choose. On arrival a care plan is created which is centred on your preferences, wishes and needs. This leads to the generation of a comprehensive care and support plan which is reviewed regularly.

Within the care home, we provide the following Services:

Residential Care – (24 hour residential care is provided under the direct supervision of our fully qualified senior care staff in accordance with your care plan. We also enlist the help of district nurses and advanced nurse practitioners when required. Your relatives are encouraged to contribute to this by providing information, particularly when you’re unable to provide the information yourself. Your individual needs are constantly monitored and care plans are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.)
End of Life Care (working towards Gold Standard Framework Award) – Our care staff are carefully chosen to provide individuals with the highest level of care and support for both the resident and their family.
Dementia Care – Our staff are specially trained in providing quality care for those with Dementia.
Respite care – Respite care is available for people who are usually looked after by a relative or carer at home or have been in hospital and require convalescence care following discharge. This can be for one night or longer to suit your needs
‘Step down’ from hospital (enabling the you to prepare to go home, this can be followed up by our community support service)
‘Step up from home’ (helping to avoid you being admitted to hospital)
Day Care – If you are happy living at home, but would like some time to catch up with old friends or make new friends and try out new activities, we offer a day care service seven days a week – for either full or half days
