Overview

Dignity In Life Ltd also offers residential accommodation for adults based in the Bolton area. We provide care to individuals with whom have difficulty with their mental health and require extra support or are unable to live independently at this time, and we aim to enable our service users to become as independent as possible with potential to living independently. We are aimed towards male and females from the age of 18. The accommodation comprises of a large Six bedroom converted mid terraced property with front and rear garden, communal lounge, dining room and kitchen. There are no obvious security measures to draw attention to the house and it blends in with the surrounding properties. It is newly decorated and furnished and bedrooms are furnished with all new major furnishings as well as a safe to allow for valuables to be kept in. All bedroom doors will have locks and individuals provided with their own keys. The home will have an open-door policy however will be locked at night at set times and opened again in the morning with keys situated in emergency cases at each fire exit. The property is close to bus routes, walking distance to supermarkets and shops. It is also close to Bolton general hospital and the local community mental health team’s main office. We will be staffed twenty-four hours per day with qualified support staff and the registered manager will always be on call when they are not on the premises. The ratio of staff on duty will depend on the service users’ needs and requirements, there will always be at least two staff on duty throughout the day. All the staff are experienced in working with individuals with mental health difficulties, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Staff will be kept up to date with training needs as required and within company policy through a staff training matrix and our in house trainer.
We aim to provide a high standard of care and assist with daily living as well as promoting service users to live as independently as possible, whilst being in a safe and comfortable environment. Staff will be able to provide support when needed and staff will also assist and promote activities in the community such as volunteering, social groups, days out to places of choice, healthcare appointments and more. We will be using local charities in Bolton to assist with these activities such as MHIST, BAND and BVS. As well as this the staff will promote healthy living through aspects such as;
• Budgeting and managing bills
• Shopping
• Meal planning and cooking skills
• Laundry and other domestic tasks
• Attending appointments
• Social and life skills
• Personal care and hygiene promotion
• Environment maintenance
• Accessing the community, local support groups and activities
• Managing medication with a view to become self-medicating in the future, dependent on induvial risk care planning.

All service users will have personalised care plans and risk assessments which will be completed alongside service users, which will be regularly reviewed, updated and audited.
We aim to be pro active with our service users and promote activities in the community, therefore our staffing levels will be managed according to this. There will always be at least two staff during the day, one staff during the night however this can change to meet service user needs.
