Location and General Information
Bramble Cottage Residential Home is situated in Patcham close to the City Centre of Brighton & Hove, with easy access to public transport.
Patcham has a relaxed atmosphere compared to the neighbouring city of Brighton and has a close-knit village. There are local shops and places to eat in the area.
Bramble Cottage was purchased by the current owners in 1994. It is privately owned and a family run business that has established an excellent reputation in the local community over the years. This is reflected in the on-going good inspection reports from the Care Quality Commission.
Bramble Cottage welcomes both long and short stay residents from all ethnic social/cultural and religious backgrounds., we also offer holiday breaks.

Care
Inclusive of the basic accommodation fee Bramble Cottage Retirement Home undertakes to provide 24-hour individual personal care and support for adults aged 65+. Our compassionate and dedicated staff will provide palliative care if and when it becomes necessary. To supplement this care, local district nurses, physiotherapists and G.P’s visit the home as required. Upon admission to the home, every resident will be registered with a G.P from our local surgery. Our digital care plan system promotes personalized individual care plans and every resident is allocated a key worker to ensure care needs and support is fully met. (Admission is subject to a full needs assessment).

Food and Refreshment
Bramble Cottage in house chefs freshly prepare food on a daily basis to cater for all the tastes of our residents. The menu is changed to reflect the seasons and we encourage residents to participate in planning the menu by making suggestions for favourite meals and dishes. We source our food locally and have frequent deliveries to ensure the freshest possible ingredients are used. Complimentary pre-lunch alcoholic drinks are provided along with beverages and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day.

Laundry
Personal laundry is undertaken on the premises and is included in the basic fee. Dry cleaning can be arranged and would be charged as an extra. Linen and towels are provided.

Furniture
All rooms are fully furnished to a high standard with a flat screen tv, residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own furnishings, photographs etc.

Additional services
We are able to provide other essentials which are not included in the fees and are charged as extras.
Bramble Cottage has visiting hairdressers and chiropodist and can arrange for on-site tests and dental checkups.
Residents can be accompanied on appointments, for which there is a charge.

Newspapers are delivered daily on request, these are charged as extras

Visitors
Visiting hours are non-restricted and visitors are always welcome at the home. Upon arrangement with the manager, visitors can lunch at Bramble Cottage.

Entertainment
Bramble Cottage has an optional social programme with various activities organised daily to include musical entertainment, quizzes, exercises, bingo and poetry. These are detailed in our weekly newsletter The Bramble Ramble, which provides the residents with an update on the weekly events.
We also have themed suppers for the residents and a variety of parties over the year. These include a summer Barbeque, Halloween party and Christmas party, Bramble Cottage is known for its excellent parties.

Religious and Cultural preferences
Ministers of religion visit the home on a regular basis to provide a service for those residents wishing to attend. We will help and encourage residents wishing to maintain contact with their religious and spiritual following.

Accommodation
Bramble Cottage is registered for 28 residents. Accommodation is arranged over 3 floors, ground floor, first floor and second floor, with lift to access to all floors.

Rooms
Rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished, we also have 2 large suites. All rooms are ensuite with some walk-in showers. Many of the rooms have balconies, or French door opening onto a terrace, with lovely views of the landscaped gardens. Residents are able to bring in any of their own furniture to personalise their rooms.

Communal Areas
There is a quiet lounge and reception area with seating adjacent to the dining room, and a large comfortable lounge overlooking the garden. The main dining room has seating for 24 residents, and there is a smaller dining room with extra seating if required.

Staffing
Mrs Sharon Holloway (Level 5 Management and Leadership Award). The manager is responsible for the care and day to day running of the home.
Sharon has had 32-year experience working in the care sector and has been promoted to Registered Manager after being deputy for 3 years.

Theresa Foley has been working at Bramble Cottage for 22 years and has been promoted to Deputy Manager, she has also completed her Level 5 Management and Leadership Award.
