Overview

The Old Malthouse is a beautiful 16th Century building, originally a working granary and Malthouse. Many of it’s original features remain.

The home is situated in the peaceful coastal village of Selsey, and is a short walk to the village shops or seafront.

The Old Malthouse specialises in care for older people living with Dementia and prides itself on providing a high standard of care in a safe environment. Our goal is to ensure your transition into our care is as smooth as possible, from your first contact with us onwards. We will ensure that you maintain your independence, each person is unique and therefore the care team will work closely with you and your family to compile care plans that recognise your individuality.

We have two large dining room for residents to use and residents are encouraged to invite family members to join them. We also promote families and friends to use our lounges and gardens for family celebrations and gatherings.

The bedrooms are light and fully furnished, with ensuite facilities. Residents can bring their own furniture in to personalise their rooms to make them feel more homely, favourite pictures. photos etc.

The staff at the Old Malthouse are selected for their experience, compassion and ability to listen and communicate with those in their care. We work closely with social workers, and have a good working relationship with the GP practice, and we are able to act quickly if you need to see a GP or other health professionals.

We offer a holistic approach to your care needs. This means we cater to all your physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs. We will sit with you and your family on admission to discuss your likes and preferences, and care plans will be tailored accordingly.

The Old Malthouse is very proud of the activities on offer. We employ dedicated activities coordinators who are passionate in ensuring our activity schedule stimulates both mentally and physically. Activities are offered in group settings or on a 1-1 basis, and we often have external entertainers providing activities. We access the local community regularly, with residents attending the "Shop" in the village, which is a Café for locals living with Dementia. Residents also visit the local churches, the seaside, shops and community shows
