Overview
The Red House offers care and support to seven individuals with various needs, including learning disabilities, autism, Prader-Willi syndrome, mental health conditions, and epilepsy, as well as those exhibiting challenging behaviours.
The people we support are encouraged to develop skills, pursue interests, and build friendships that promote their independence. Each person has a detailed, person-centred plan to help them engage in activities of their choice, improving their quality of life both at home and in the surrounding community.
The home is a large, Grade II listed property with gardens on three sides. It includes seven double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom featuring either a bath or a shower. Individuals are encouraged to personalise their rooms and bring personal belongings. There is a spacious lounge with plenty of seating, where residents can relax, socialise, watch TV or DVDs, listen to music, or chat with friends.
We also have an activity room including a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and drinks-making facilities, allowing access to refreshments at any time. The people we support can use this space for crafts, drawing, watching TV, or reading.
A large dining room, with an adjoining domestic kitchen, provides opportunities for residents to learn how to prepare balanced meals, though staff also prepare and serve freshly cooked meals daily for those who need assistance. All individuals are involved in creating the weekly menu, with alternatives available if they prefer something different from the main option.
