YOUR ROOM
In our Homes you will have your own bedroom with a single bed, a wash basin with vanity unit, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
If you have some nice things of your own, it would be good to bring them to put in your room.
The walls and the curtains can be any colour you like.
You will have your own key to lock your door and keep your room private.
THE OTHER ROOMS
There are varying amounts of bedrooms and bathrooms in our Home, none exceeding 6 bedrooms, so we are a very tight nit community.
Everyone of our homes will have a lounge, a dining area, a kitchen, some a utility room, and showers and toilets.
The gardens vary in size, but all come equipped with a BBQ area and a seating area. We encourage those that live with us to participate in designing and maintaining the garden area, giving you somewhere to enjoy in the summer months.
There is a phone you can use and an internet connection so that you can chat or skype loved ones.
WHAT WILL YOUR LIFE BE LIKE?
During the week you will probably go out to Day Services or work. When you come home in the afternoon there will be a member of staff already at home. This member of staff will be there for you all evening.
The staff will be happy to take you swimming, bowling, to the cinema or pub or anywhere else you might like to try.
This member of staff will check that you are home safely at night, stay overnight and be there for you in the morning while you get your breakfast and get ready to go out again. On Saturdays and Sundays, staff will be there all day. The staff will use the van to take you for trips out and on holiday every year.
You will help to choose the meals and help with the shopping. You will share the housework with the other service users. If there is anything you can’t manage, staff will always help.
When you are not very well, we will help you get an appointment with a doctor or a nurse or at the hospital. You will have a dentist of your own choice who will keep your teeth looking good.
If any of the other tenants upset or hurt or bully you, you must let the staff know and they will deal with it. Of course, you must not upset, hurt or bully anyone else.
It is against the law to take certain drugs. If we found that you had some of these drugs, we would have to tell the police. After that you might not be able to stay with us.
Staff will not tell anyone private information about you unless you have told them they can.
If something goes wrong and you need to leave one of our Homes, we will give you 4 weeks to make arrangements for a new place to live. If you decide you want to leave, you will need to give us 4 weeks to make arrangements.
There are no staff in the house during the daytime on weekdays unless your day care or workplace has a holiday or unless you are ill or you have a funded one-to-one
You can use all the rooms in the House whenever you like, but not other peoples’ bedrooms.
You pay for your own clothes, personal items and nice things you might like to put in your room. Some of our homes (the supported living accommodation) will also have to pay rent, for the internet, for the vehicles they have and for food.
