Overview
The care home is run by Victoria Ricketts and Samuel Travers, as directors of the registered service provider, Paddington Care Ltd. They are very excited to be taking over Five Gables Care Home from the previous owners, Julie and Brian, who are beginning their well-deserved retirement, after running the home for nearly 18 years.
Victoria has been working at Five Gables for 5 years now, and has been Registered Manager, with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), for 4 years. The care home has become a huge part of her life, and outside of her professional involvement, now having this opportunity of running the care home under their own company, has fulfilled her ambitions that she has been working towards, ever since starting her career in social care 9 years ago. Her partner, Samuel, has been working at his mother’s care home, which is a small 11-bed family run home, for 17 years, and has been actively involved in the day-to-day running's of their care home – this has given them an excellent insight into the nature of this business and are eager to immerse themselves in this new venture.
They share the management duties within the home, along with Samantha Hawkins, who was employed as Operations Manager in September 2014. Alongside management, the staff team includes senior carers, carers, domestics and cooks. All staff complete annual mandatory training to a high standard, and our carers start our skill development programme to train to at least a Level 2 NVQ in Health and Social Care after their first year of employment.
Five Gables Care Home also have a visiting hairdresser, chiropodist and opticians.
Five Gables Care Home is a home in the West Moors area of Ferndown - it has a 'Good' rating from the CQC.
