Overview
Horton House is a lovely Victorian building close to the centre of Gloucester; it is situated in a residential area close to the city centre, amidst local amenities such as shops, main bus routes, public houses, and health services. It is nearby to Gloucester rail service and within reach of many places of worship.
The Home is surrounded by secluded gardens, including patio areas. On the ground floor, there is a main lounge, dining room and conservatory, all centrally heated.
We provide residential and dementia care – this can either be as respite or on a permanent basis.
Horton House can accommodate twenty-four people. All rooms are single, and some have ensuite facilities; those that do not have ensuite facilities are fitted with wash basins. There are four shower rooms, with two located on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Access to the first floor is via stairs, although we do have a stair lift if required.
All bedrooms are light and airy, and differ in size. You are encouraged to bring your own furniture and belongings to help make you feel at home.
Our aim is to provide a high standard of person-centred care to ensure a comfortable, safe and homely environment where residents can live knowing that their privacy and dignity is upheld, and their choices are respected.
We strive to promote independence and to ensure a high quality of care is maintained at all times. We work closely with relevant professionals and gather feedback from friends, family and other visitors so that our service continually evolves and improves to benefit the residents who live at Horton House.
Our main aim is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is our intention that you have complete freedom of movement and comfort in a secure, homely environment.
Your health is of prime importance to us, and as a team, we will do our best to maintain and improve your health and wellbeing.
A high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout the Home; the Home is kept in good condition, and the gardens and grounds are well maintained.
Activities are tailored to your hobbies and interests; we enjoy a wide range of games and arts and crafts! We also have weekly music activities hosted by visiting professionals.
We have regular resident meetings, where we discuss what we are enjoying and what we would like to do more of.
All meals are prepared from scratch onsite, which constitute a wholesome, appealing, and balanced diet. You are encouraged to have your meals alongside other residents in the dining room, or in the garden; however, are welcome to remain in your room if you wish

"I enjoy the arts and crafts like making the salt dough animals. It's very calm here, I like that. The gardens are very nice and I quite like sitting out there – there's a nice bit of greenery, flowers, and pots. You can come and go as you please. The staff are fine, I like them – I have no worries.”
