Riverside House is home to up to 10 adults, providing a safe environment for people affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder and associated complex needs. It is found in a central part of Goole town, close to local amenities including a Leisure centre and shopping precinct, along with all the main supermarkets.
Riverside offers single ensuite bedrooms, which are decorated to meet the individual’s needs, as well as a communal lounge, gaming room, relaxing room, gym, laundry room and fully-equipped kitchen and larger bathroom.
Service users are encouraged to reach their full potential and experience a full and wide range of activities and learning experiences within the home and community. They are supported to make their own decisions throughout their daily life through effective and efficient goal setting, including taking informed risks while ensuring safety and well-being. Respite care is also offered if people meet the criteria for a placement.
Service users are supported to take part in outdoor pursuits and sports in the local community. Riverside has its own vehicle to support this. When the summer months come, they like to have barbecues and relax in the garden playing games. The home has themed evenings, and the service users are always encouraged to help with meal prep and cooking.
Riverside House ensures that all service users, their family and significant others have an active role in person centred care plans, that are tailored to meet their individual needs. This may be regarding health care, nutrition and everyday living needs while respecting individual choice and paying due regard to and respecting people’s diversity.
Through efficient monitoring and keeping abreast of current legislation they make certain the staff team have a diverse and varied combination of skills. They provide access to appropriate training to support staff and enable them to meet the varying needs of the service user.
