Overview

Our 13-bed residential home offers a small and personal service with 24-hr nursing and respite facilities for adults with conditions relating to the brain, severe physical disabilities, neurological disorders, or those who require palliative service.

We care for a range of patients with:

• Motor neuron disease
• Parkinson’s disease
• Multiple sclerosis
• Huntington’s disease
• Complicated CVA

Additionally: Sensory Impairment, Muscular Dystrophy, Cancer Care, Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy

We focus on providing a tailored service which ensures that the people we care for are treated as individuals and their nursing needs do not overshadow their choices and personality. We support them with their day-to-day needs such as personal care, accessing the community, managing medication, pain management, wound care, PEG feeds, tracheostomy, oxygen support, and catheters

Complex Disability Management
For people who need regular medical investigations or monitoring. We help them participate in everyday activities and to be as independent as possible. They may also need help with feeding or walking.
Symptom Management
Sometimes called palliative or neuro-palliative care, providing relief from pain, discomfort, or stress and aims to improve a person’s quality of life and is suitable for people with severe and far-reaching disabilities or for those in the later stages of a progressive neurological condition.
Each person has an individual care plan which includes communication, dietary requirements, independent living skills, hobbies and interests, religion, and aspirations. Our regular activity program includes sensory music sessions, arts and crafts, cookery and gardening which provides a stimulating environment and promotes resident wellbeing.

We ensure that our residents get the best services so that their life can be as fulfilling and as independent as possible. There’s access to

Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Speech, and Language therapists. There is a Chiropodist, hairdresser and Optician, physiotherapist that will visit on request and all residents are registered with a local dentist who has specialist services for adults with physical disabilities. The Nurse paramedic from the GP surgery visits on a weekly basis to see all residents.

In addition to a team of well trained and skilled support workers there is always an RGN nurse on shift 24/7. We have a registered manager on site who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the home. We have an in-house cook and two housekeeping staff with a 5-star food hygiene rating which is linked to nutritionally excellent quality food.

We use person centred software which ensures that individual care plans are followed, and all resident contact is recorded at the point of delivery. The system also provides an added level of security as all care interactions can be monitored and tracked.
The Coach House is a freestanding, specifically refurbished building within its own defined boundaries. It is fully wheelchair and service vehicle accessible. There are parking spaces at the front of the accommodation. We have 13 single bedrooms that span over the 3-storey building.

Each bedroom is fully furnished with a single bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet. Any personal belongings or money can be kept secure in our safe. All rooms have a hoist, and washbasin.
There is a lift which facilitates access to all floors with fire exits on each floor. The home is fully wheelchair accessible and refurbished to an extremely high standard and consists of a good-sized kitchenette combined with the lounge area which is spacious and has an open and light feeling.

There is an onsite laundry service, toilet on the ground floor designed for disabled access, and a wet room. On the first floor, there is one full size wet room. The garden consists of a patio, raised vegetable beds and a covered seating area.

We have a policy of open visiting which means that relatives and friends can come to see people at any time during the day or evening. Family and friends are invited to social functions if the individual wishes them to be there. Our staff strive to help residents maintain relationships by assisting with letter writing, making calls, and facilitating home visits or days out.
