Chestnuts care home is a well established home situated in a pleasant central location in Bargate Grimsby. It has easy access to local amenities and local transport. Chestnuts building is Victorian in style with a modern extension providing care for up to 23 residents. Chestnuts has 3 storey serviced by a passenger lift and stairs. There are 21 bedrooms which 2 of them can accommodate couples you can enjoy a pleasant view over looking the garden. Most of the bedrooms enjoy ensuite facilities. On the ground floor there are 2 lounge areas, a conservatory and a dining room which are shared by all the residents. The home benefits from pleasant gardens to the front and rear of the home, we have a local park that is in walking distance which our residents like to go visit in the nice weather to feed the ducks and look around the their garden at there flowers. Grimsby town shopping centre is not far from the care home in which our female resident especially like to go shopping with the staff and stop off somewhere for coffee and cake. Resident enjoy a stroll along the seafront weather permitted. We have an activities co Ordinator at the home who carries out daily activities to meet the resident needs and abilities, daily activities include baking, bingo, arts and crafts gardening when weather is nice, armchair exercises sing along. activities can be a lovely social event , staff assist resident to engage with each other. The home has a good variety of equipment for activities. A variety of things that the resident might recognise as being part of their daily routine are presented such as folding linen dusting and polishing which we find the lady's like to do as they will often say that they like the table to look nice. A variety of books are available for the residents to read in one of our lounge areas. The home celebrates every residents Birthdays with a party with a theme of their choice. We have reminiscence events each month which takes our resident back in time and sparks conversation about memories from their past. The home has its own salon and we have a hairdresser that visits the home once a fortnight, the residents really enjoy this they have the enjoyment of being pampered with a feeling of being at the salon. Staff will take the female residents into the salon to provide nail care to our female residents and staff will take the male residents into the salon to have a shave and give them the feeling of being in the barbers shop. All food is home cooked at the Chestnuts with a variety of different meal throughout the day. We have fish and chips on a Friday which is bought from our local Fish and Chip shop.
