Overview
Our Care Centre is situated at the heart of the lovely village of Bassingham in rural Lincolnshire. We provide high quality care for adults with dementia as well as caring for a broad range of different needs and medical conditions including diabetes, mental health care for older people and end of life care.
The home was originally a rectory, but has now been converted into a care centre. Its different buildings stand in their own large grounds, that residents are able to enjoy whenever our weather permits. Care facilities are effectively divided into two parts, a main house with thirty-one bedrooms, and twenty-eight further bedrooms where accommodation is provided in bungalows. The main house is for our more dependant service users whose needs are more advanced. Our bungalows provide nursing care but also allow for residents to be more independent.
All our rooms are tastefully decorated and provide a good start for residents to create a room of their own. We encourage everyone to bring their own personal items into the home; perhaps a favourite chair or a collection of treasured photographs. We want everyone to feel that they are truly at home.
The broad range of needs that Bassingham caters for requires a highly professional and devoted team. All our staff are chosen, not only for their professional experience and capability, but also for their warmth and compassion, as well as their ability to create strong relationships.
Our dedicated care team and our Registered Mental Health nurses and Registered General Nurses have extensive experience of looking after the needs of residents, within both a Care Home and acute clinical setting. All our staff receive specialist training in order to be able to fully meet the requirements of all our residents regardless of the level of their needs.
So that each of our residents is treated as they individual they are, we sit down with them and their family, and work through a tailored care plan that not only looks at medical needs but also desires, interests, and hobbies. Our dedicated staff work hard to provide all residents and their families with a welcoming and supportive environment, which recognises individuals with their own personalities and requirements.
At Bassingham we don’t believe that a persons care needs should exclude them from taking part in life to the full – just the opposite. We organise a range of activities to suit all interests. For those who are able we encourage regular contact with the community and trips out to the local village and further afield to city shops. Residents can take part in the activities that they choose and staff will also organise special activities for those who may be more restricted.
The local village has two pubs, a post office and two shops for residents to visit. We are in the process of re-establishing monthly visits from our local church group, and residents are welcome to take part in services if they choose to. We also have close links to our GP surgery, hub nurses and district nurses, meaning the home is always full of visitors, creating a strong and vibrant community.
Mealtimes are important for everyone, and we strive hard to create balanced and nutritious menus for our residents. All our meals are prepared using fresh produce from our local butcher, and a family run local vegetable supplier. Our menu plans not only deliver the right amount of dietary benefit, but also take account of individual likes and dislikes. There is always plenty of choice but we recognise that from time to time there may be something in particular that one of our residents fancies – perhaps an old favourite they haven’t had for a while. Whatever it is our cooks will do their best to make sure it appears on the menu.
We want all our residents to feel part of a warm and caring community. We try hard to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere at all times. We pride ourselves on getting to know our residents extremely well, learning about their life stories, and all their likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests. We want to make everyone feel special, as we believe care should be as individual as each of residents are.
We hope that you will enjoy a visit to Bassingham Care Centre and we are available at any time to help you with making the right choice for you. Please do not hesitate to call us and ask for our help.
