The Haven Care Home pride ourselves in offering a highly professional care of service for the elderly, providing a wonderful place for residents to live and enjoy, with a personal touch. Prior to becoming a permanent resident, we are more than happy to accept those for a trial period. We believe in creating a homely atmosphere for our residents and guests and make every effort to ensure privacy, independence and dignity at all times. With staff attending to their needs, nothing is spared to create an atmosphere that is happy and secure. To ensure that the care service is delivered flexibly, attentively, and in a non-discriminatory fashion while respecting each resident’s right to independence, privacy, dignity, fulfilment and the right to make informed choices and to take risks.

The home intends to meet the needs of residents requiring personal care, including residents with very dependent needs. Where necessary we provide personal care including assistance with washing, dressing, bathing, eating and mobilising. We support psychological needs residents and are able to care for people with moderate short-term memory problems, we are able to care for people with sight and hearing problems.

Making the decision to move into a care establishment or to place a loved relative or friend into care is a difficult and emotional time. We can offer Respite/Day Care, which is a very popular option, especially if you’re considering full time admission at a later date.

The home is registered to care for 29 residents with varying levels of needs and diagnoses. We aim to deliver high standards of care using person centred approach to people who have dementia or memory loss. We endeavour to tailor our care packages to the individual needs of all types of dementia. Although we cater predominantly to over 65’s, we at The Haven recognise the need for care of younger persons in our community and the rise in dementia and debilitating illnesses affecting people at a much younger age. To support this, we are able to accommodate younger persons following the same assessment process.

Carers will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in doing so will be sensitive to the residents ever changing needs. Such needs may be medical/ therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social, and residents are encouraged to participate in the developments of their individual care plans in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued. This will be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self-esteem, and social interaction with other residents and with recognition of the following core values of care, which are fundamental to the philosophy of our home.

All carers within the home will be appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. A continuous staff-training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest initiatives and developments in care practices as may be laid down in appropriate legislation, and registration authority guidelines.

Rebecca had worked at Bhandal Care Group for 10 years and has fulfilled every position within the care home working from an apprentice care assistant to a registered manager of one of our sister homes in January 2018. Rebecca has completed a broad range of qualifications and transferred over to The Haven in October 2020. Rebecca has the ability to work closely with her team and always strives to achieve the best outcome possible ensuring the residents needs are catered for to a high standard and delivered in a person-centred way.
