Overview
Imber House is a small 7 bedded care home set in a quiet residential area of Lowestoft. It overlooks the town and has a panoramic view of the sea less than 300 meters away.
The property is situated over three floors and provides light and airy accommodation, comfortable communal areas and outside there is a pleasantly appointed space and a secure garden for residents to use. Imber House provides Care and Support to adults and older people with Learning Disabilities and mental health conditions.
Imber House is close to bus stop that will take you to the Lowestoft town centre where there are all the amenities available including a railway station, restaurants, hotels, theatre, pier, post office, shops, bank and schools. When coming back from the town centre the bus stop is about 2 mins walk to the home.
The property is accessed through a wide front door which opens up into a large hallway. The main lounge is off to the left which has a selection of comfortable chairs for residents to sit and relax. There is a dining area at the back of the building which sits up to 10 people and it is brightly decorated and well lit. The bedrooms are of good sizes which are accessed via the stairs. Some of the rooms are en suite.
There is an experienced full time Registered Manager supported by a good skill mix members of staff on duty who provide support to the service users. The registered manager has extensive knowledge and over 18 years’ experience in managing care homes. All staff have the skills and competencies to support people with minor or profound learning disabilities and hold mandatory qualifications. Some staff have level 2 in Health & Social Care and above. All staff will receive mandatory training updates at least annually and specialist training will be updated in line with good practice requirements.
Our residents are supported to live an active and fulfilled life. The management team organise a series of events in the care home as well as outings to local places of interest.
Should a resident require any aids or equipment to assist them, these can be arranged as part of the entry assessment process or new requirements can be discussed and organised with the Manager. The home has disabled access via the front door and the ground floor has full access however the first floor can only be accessed via the stairs which may limit people with severe physical disabilities.
Our staffs carefully prepare meals to ensure that they are healthy and nutritious whilst being interesting, appealing and varied. Residents are offered choices each day and special diets including vegetarian or diabetic can be catered for. To ensure our residents receive the best diet, advice from dietician is available where necessary. All meals, snacks, supplements and drinks are provided within the fees for service.
The auxiliary staff consists of domestic, a maintenance person and a gardener. They all hold relevant mandatory training with certificates to evidence that training has been completed and that they are competent to do their job safely.
