Overview
Alderwood Care Home offers first class residential care and this is a care discipline in which we excel. We have a qualified, caring team who have all undertaken specialist training to ensure that all our residents’ personal needs are met and we review all individual care plans on a regular basis.
Situated in the quiet residential area of Boothstown, Alderwood Care Home is a much welcome retreat for our residents. About 10 miles from Manchester City Centre, and within walking distance of local amenities, Alderwood is a haven amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, giving our residents quiet and peaceful surroundings. Within a residential location, our home has attractive grounds for both our residents and visitors to enjoy.
Tastefully decorated and well lit, we offer 39 fully furnished rooms. Of those rooms, 3 are double rooms, 31 are single occupancy, 19 have ensuite facilities and others have wash basin. Our residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing in their own belongings, including furniture photographs, and memorabilia so that they truly feel at home. Sometimes, having that favourite chair or dressing table can make all the difference in the world. All rooms have TV aerial sockets, Wi-Fi, wheelchair access and of course, nurse call systems for their safety and wellbeing.
Our dedicated dining hall is encouraged as a social space to get to know other residents over meals. Meal times are protected and we can cater for any requirements, whether it be cultural or dietary along with any celebration any residents may wish to share with us and their loved ones. We offer a wide choice of delicious home cooked meals so our residents will always find something to their taste and should they choose to eat in the comfort of their own room, staff will happily ensure that they are accommodated. Family members and friends are always welcome to join their loved ones over a tasty meal prepared on site by our team in the 5-Star kitchen and fresh snacks, fruit and refreshments are available around the clock for our residents.
Our three communal lounges offer a great place to relax, interact with other residents or simply doze off while watching television. We boast own hair salon meaning residents can keep on top of their hair dos right under their own roof and host regular visits from healthcare practitioners such the dentist, optician and podiatrist.
We also have a tea room for our residents to unwind and catch up in with family members and friends whilst enjoying a cuppa. Our lift can be used for residents who may have mobility issues, meaning no-one is restricted to the ground floor of our home. We also house a kitchenette to be used by anyone and a TV room to be taken advantage of.
For the nice weather, our spacious patio area allows our residents and their families the chance to sit out and enjoy the view of the grounds and our large, lawned garden is completely wheelchair accessible so everyone can bask in the sun during the summer months.
A range of activities designed around our residents’ choices are on offer, including games, arts and crafts and 1-1 pamper sessions and our dedicated activities coordinator takes residents on day trips to local beauty spots and into town to enjoy shopping, and lunch at local pubs and cafés.
