Overview
Ann Challis is a home in the Urmston area of Manchester, which can accommodate just 23 residents and we provided for those with dementia. Our main aim and objectives, are to provide all our residents with the care and support they need, to enable them to have a quality and fulfilling life according to their needs and wishes. At the Ann Challis home we believe that those who live in our residential care homes shall do so with dignity, they shall have the respect of those who support them, shall live with no reduction of their rights as citizens, and shall be entitled to a full and active life as their physical and mental condition will allow. Irrespective of age or disability, residents have a fundamental right to live in a manner and in circumstances which corresponds, as far as possible, with those who remain in their own homes. This allows any resident individually to continue to maintain his/her cultural traditions and lifestyle. At our home all rooms measure to the required legislation and include a wash basin, bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinets and a chair. Some rooms are equipped with en-suite facilities (ground floor only). We encourage all residents to decorate their room with personal belongings if they wish to do so. Lifts are available to each floor with wheelchair access, bathrooms are situated on each floor. All communal lounges have television and music systems in place and the decor is modern. There are smoking facilities in the home away from communal areas to correspond with current fire safety regulations and the law.
We have are own activities coordinator who does a wide range activities to suit each individuals needs. We also have singers that come into the home to entertain the ladies and their family and friends this is very popular with our ladies.
We have a large back garden area where the ladies like to do their own gardening when the weather is nice.
We have 2 chefs that work in the home 7 days a week all our food is prepared fresh each day, there is a well balanced nutritious menu which offers a wide choice of foods, the chef is always happy to prepare something different if the individuals requests.
We have a team of domestics who work in the home each day to ensure the cleanliness of the home is kept to a high standard.
Our dedicated team keep up to date with all their training and current legislation and always put the residents best interest first, following residents personal care plan.
