Overview
Elpha Lodge provides individually tailored care packages for up to 24 residents, offering support consistent with their needs and disabilities, promoting as many independent skills as possible. We specialise in caring for people with Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s Disease, Learning Disabilities, Autism and acquired head injuries of people over the age of 18 years, male or female. We continue to respond to changing needs by reviewing and improving specialised disability equipment, staff provision and training.
We value everyone who comes to live at Elpha Lodge and welcome applications from people from all walks of life and with many different needs. All service users are assured that they will be treated with respect and dignity according to their individual needs and wishes.
The aim at Elpha Lodge is to safeguard and promote the welfare of all vulnerable adults to ensure all residents live their lives free from abuse and neglect.
Elpha lodge is committed to ensuring all staff are in receipt of the relevant skills, knowledge, and training to support all residents appropriately and promote the caring ethos of the home.
The main house provides a lounge, dining room and smoking room, (for residents use only). The home has a bathroom, shower room and three disabled access WC’s. All bedroom doors are lockable, in both Elpha and Sydney and residents are offered the option to hold their own key and use this facility independently. Sydney House bungalow provides a lounge facility and a dining room. A visitor toilet with disabled facilities.
Sydney House has 10 bedrooms , all bedrooms are en-suite with toilet and showering facilities.
The physical environment of the home is designed for resident’s convenience and comfort. We maintain the buildings and grounds ensuring they are in a safe condition. Make detailed arrangements for the communal areas of the home to be safe and comfortable .Supply toilet, washing and bathing facilities suitable for the resident’s needs, promoting independence. Ensure residents have safe, comfortable bedrooms, with their own possessions around them. Ensure that the premises are kept clean, hygienic, and free from unpleasant odours, with systems in place to control the spread of infection.
For the benefit of all residents and staff, Sydney House has a no smoking policy within the home. The communal areas of Elpha Lodge are designated as non-smoking. Residents, who wish to smoke indoors, may smoke in Elpha Lodge designated smoke room.
Residents are supported by the means of carers giving their time to listen and show human understanding to any identified problems they may have to maintain or promote independent skills.
Residents who have independent shills will be supported and encouraged to maintain or promote these skills. Residents who wish to learn new skills will be given every opportunity to do so.
Past, present, or new skills, social and recreational activities and outings, residents are given every opportunity to meet these needs. The staff at Elpha Lodge work in close partnership with external agencies.
Each resident is given every opportunity to maintain close involvement with their family, friends, and representatives. Residents are supported by their preferred keyworker or member of staff to arrange family visits to Elpha Lodge or family homes (special request for transport), they also support residents with letter writing, and making personal telephone calls. All residents have the right to refuse to accept visits or telephone calls from family or friends at any given time, staff support their decisions.
A detailed proposed resident ‘Pre-Admission Pack’ is addressed prior to an agreed trial period being offered, allowing us to ensure all necessary information required has been collected and discussed between all involved in the individuals care plan. The initial individual service user care plan is prepared with the involvement of all concerned. The needs of the resident are identified by information received from Care Manager, resident, and other professionals. A realistic care plan is devised in agreement with the resident and with the resident and implemented within the three months trial period. Risk assessments are completed and implemented where required.
Residents will experience the awareness from carers in respect of privacy. Carers will do their utmost to ensure residents are offered opportunities to receive privacy where and when required. Res
