Overview
Every day is special, come and see why…
Located In New Malden, Devonshire Dementia Care Home & Day Centre are a specialist dementia care home with over 35+ years of experience. We support the person living with dementia by ‘Sharing the Care’ with family members throughout their journey. We offer permanent, respite or day care in our home & day centre which is purposefully vintage designed to spark reminiscence. Our support services reach out to family carers and the dementia community. Connecting our buildings by tranquil gardens, our welcoming and friendly atmosphere promotes freedom for our Residents to explore in our safe & secure environment. From carefully selected and continuously trained staff to our unique care model & stimulating activities, we provide meaningful occupation, encourage friendships, promote wellbeing and social interaction.
In addition to our care model and consistent & seamless care, our collaboration with Teepa Snow & PAC (positive approach to care) has provided additional confidence for our care staff as we observe small changes in care that make a huge difference to wellbeing. We have been accredited with The National Gold Standards Framework Award in recognition for our outstanding compassion towards end-of-life care.
Residential Care : We have been successful in the breakdown of placements from other homes where needs could not be met. Our unique care model supports exceptional staff to weave thoughtful interventions into the daily life of those living with dementia. Each day is, therefore, more meaningful and Residents and day guests can experience an increase in wellbeing and a reduction in anxiety and agitation. We consider the care home to be ‘their home’. With safety measures in place, our Residents can enjoy exploring the entirety of the care home, tranquil gardens and the Devonshire Lyons Tea Room. In addition, we have a market stall, spa treatments, hair dressing salon and much more! Every Friday, our Management Team round up the week with a phone call to family members, updating them on all of our
news, joyful events, and the wellbeing of their loved one.
Respite Services : For those who are not quite ready to transition into full time Residential care, we offer respite, suggesting a 2-week minimum stay to gently settle your loved one, free of worry stay in the hands of our specialist team. To ensure a smooth transition, we provide a pre-admission initial assessment which helps us build
a tailored care plan. This assists us to understand a person likes, dislikes, hobbies, and interests. This plays a significant role in ascertaining former skillsets which reveals retained abilities.
Day Care: Our Day Centre is open Monday to Friday (9am-5pm) with the option of pick up & drop off within a 5-mile radius. Our vintage themed Day Centre has provided many families with a well-deserved break as many day guests report their loved ones have returned home happier, calmer, and less anxious. Families have received specialist insights and connections from our compassionate care team. Encouraged by our Residents, who are our best teachers, every detail is considered in context of how our Residents feel. This is to promote a fun day out whether the person living with dementia is making friendships, enjoying afternoon tea, or feeling inspired by decades-gone-by themes that promote relaxation. During purposeful activities, our Residents can exercise their independence whilst also assisting staff with safety conscious everyday tasks. Whether a Resident had a previous fondness for baking, a love for gardening or a keenness for knitting, our intention is to create moments of magic.
Free Singing Group & Coffee Morning: If you want to have a fun day out, we welcome the community in gently, starting slowly at a comfortable pace by joining us every Wednesday at our Free Singing Group & Coffee Morning which runs (10:30- 12:30). Singing group has proved for many family members an excellent way to get to familiarise themselves with the Devonshire, meet our team and have a fun day out prior to making the best decision for their current circumstances.
Fresh Air Drives: Despite being available all year round, our fresh air drives peak during the warmer weather conditions as we go everywhere from the famous Richmond Park to Bushy Park near Hampton Court. With every adventure, we have had positive responses from Residents who have had a front row seat to windows of
magic. Engaged and observing from a distance, we’ve spotted everything from wild deer to tropical parrots as our care team commentate on live events, pack a picnic, and even stop off at the ice cream van!
Free Community Services: If you have any questions at all, our free support line (0208 949 0818 from 09:00-17:00) is designed to encourage family carers to discuss their challenges so we can brainstorm positive approaches towards care. Our team would be delighted to speak to you for as long as you need.
