Overview

The Cottage Christian Nursing and Residential Home is a nursing home in the area of Newport, which can accommodate 40 residents - it has a 'Good' rating from the CQC. Care can be provided for those with dementia. The Cottage Christian Nursing and Residential Home also offers the following short stay services; respite care.

The homely surroundings enable our residents to live as comfortable a life as possible and our activities enable participants to feel part of life within the home and its wider community.

Everyone living and working at Cottage Christian can genuinely feel they are among friends. Residents can decide where and how they spend their time either quietly in their room, taking part in the variety of activities, or walking through the central garden area at the heart of the home.

Our friendly communal areas ensure everyone is supported individually with scope for new friendships with other residents.

Activities
Our specially trained and enthusiastic activities staff are excellent at helping our residents enjoy their life with us at Cottage Christian where our staff work with residents to create a week by week schedule of activities to include a mix of physical, social, creative, recreational, sensory, relaxation and reminiscence.

In addition to the rich and varied activity programme we organise events throughout the year and provide wonderful entertainment. We encourage residents to get involved in day-to-day life in the home from housekeeping and baking to growing vegetables and keeping busy in the garden. We appreciate that in providing activities for residents with nursing needs the opportunities for trips and activities will be dependent on our residents health and we will review this individually to ensure activities safely meet our residents needs.

Food & Drink
At Cottage Christian we take our culinary skills very seriously indeed. As well as serving lunch, we make sure our residents have easy access to snacks and drinks throughout the day and night. Proper nutrition and hydration are essential to health and wellbeing.

We cater to all dietary requirements including supplements and following assessment guidance by the Speech and Language Team (SaLT). Cottage Christian meals are freshly prepared on site by a qualified chef using locally sourced produce and we cater for all requirements including vegan, vegetarian, dairy or gluten-free diets.

Cottage Christian has the highest possible 5 star food hygiene rating assessed regularly and independently
