Overview

Mr and Mrs Nicholson (or as we know them Jeff and Mandy) purchased Inglenook in 1989 and have been well established for the last 34 years. Allison Nichols who joined the team in 2018 is the Registered Manager and has over 40 years’ experience within the care industry. Allison manages Inglenook House with a dedicated support team.

Inglenook House is a large Victorian end terraced house situated in the heart of Plymouth and is within walking distance of the city centre. Inglenook has disabled access to the property, and also an accessible outside patio area. We are located opposite Freedom Fields Park which has a friendly community café.

At Inglenook there are seven single bedrooms which are fully furnished and decorated to a high standard, each room having a wash basin, full central heating and WIFI. Service users are encouraged to participate in the choice of decoration for their bedroom and personal possessions are welcomed. Our upstairs rooms are accessible with the use of a stair lift if required. Inglenook has a large lounge/dining area which has ramped access to a pleasant patio area where ’al fresco’ dining takes place during the summer if the service users wish. The kitchen is accessible to all service users enabling everyone to participate in the preparation of meals, whilst allowing service users to prepare drinks and snacks for themselves.

Transitioning in to our home, is embedded in our carefully planned practice, by putting you first, we work in line with the CQC Right Care, Right Culture, Right Support, published 2017 document. Our ethos promotes and ensures that this home can become your forever home. We encourage and direct either you or adult social care to work in line with our policy, there are no rushed admissions. Only carefully planned transitions. We ask that you try our home over and up to a 4-6 week period, this allows you to get to know the other service users and them you, creating a culture of fun, happiness, peace and safety. Our homes keep active daily, we will offer you choice of what you prefer to do, living a life person centred to you.
