We provide personal care as defined under Section 49 of the Health & Social Care Act 2008, to the elderly with dementia care (DE) to people of both sexes, over the age of 60, providing longer-term and respite care. Also, on special circumstances the service will accept referrals and admit people under the age of 60 whose needs are due to Dementia. We welcome, respect, cater and provide a homely friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere for people from a diverse population from anywhere in the country who choose to come and live at Cedric House.
The Home is run by 2 Experienced Qualified Registered Nurses and managed by a Registered Manager (CQC) together with a complement of other experienced senior and junior staffs, all of whom attend regular trainings and skills updates. 70 percent of staff are NVQ 2 trained and all staff are expected to work towards NVQ 2. We endeavour to ensure that all staff attends any relevant dementia training in order to enhance their skills and expertise in caring for the client group. We also run In-house training and all staff have regular 1:1 or group supervision.
We are committed to providing a very high-quality service in line with legislations and Health and Social Care Act 2008 and research based. Some brief examples are regular reviews of care plans, risk assessment, conducting regular audits via feedbacks, questionnaires, and group meetings, also dealing with all complaints seriously and investigating and responding to them as promptly as practically possible within 28 days. We also welcome any constructive criticism and we regularly reflect on our practice and aim to improve and maintain every aspect of care to a very high standard.
We regularly take service users to activities in the community such as shopping trip, visit to the market/church, walks to the park and they go to the farm once a week where they are involved in various activities. We have a weekly activity at the Saints Club which is enjoyed by the service users.
We organise a tea party once a month within the Home and we have an outside professional who comes once a month to perform " Musical Moments"
