About the home - location
Name of Home: Just homes
Address – 3 New Hill. Purley On Thames. RG8 8AY
This is a three bedroomed bungalow set in the centre of Purley, with a good bus link from Reading. The home benefits from a large garden at the back and front of the house. We have two female service users who are currently living in the home. They are in their late 60s. The home does accommodate adults from the age of 18, we just happen to have older services users because they have lived in the home for over 35 years, and have come of age while living here. One lady lived with two other services users who had lived approximately the same length of time and sadly passed away recently. The second service user recently moved to Purley

Our lovely home offers care and support for people with profound learning difficulties. Because the home is a bungalow, we can also take people with mobility issues and/or wheelchair users. We offer 24/7 support where we have a night time support worker should service users need assistance in the night. The team share this support so we have one night support worker. However, should we have a service user needing 1:1 support in the night, we are accommodating. During the day we have two support workers offering support to service users throughout the day. Our staff are trained to support with personal care. We have a wet room to facilitate this. This has a shower rather than bath tub. The staff also support with medication administration and are up to date with their training of handling medication. Two staff members administer medication to avoid any errors. The current service users’ need support with feeding and supervision during meals and they are supported with this. Staff are well trained for this. Service users are supported with activities of their choice and go out during the day depending on what has been planned. They have access to a van belonging to the home and contribute towards fuel for activities. The van has a ramp to allow for wheelchair access. We are always on the lookout for new activities that the service users could be interested in so that we can offer such choices. We have our in-house activities to facilitate indoor activities as well as outdoors doors. Our activity coordinator comes to the home 3 times a week and offer some therapeutic sessions such as massage therapy, music, art and crafts and pamper sessions, for example nail manicures and hand massages. Our service is very small and hence highly individualised. We currently have two ladies and have one vacancy. We would take male or female service user but we would also access if they will be compatible with our existing service users.
