Overview
Type of Accommodation
We are The Firs; a home that that enables all people to live with a nursing or residential or dementia care need. We strive to provide a person-centred care approach with a team of specialist nurses, carers, dementia care workers and a solid management base of which our roots are family raised.
Our home has 39 bedrooms, of which 36 are single living and we have 3 rooms which would amply accommodate couples sharing. Ensuite facilities are available.
Our residents living within the Firs are encouraged to retain access to their local health services, community and leisure facilities.
Within the Firs we have a specialist household known as The Pines assisting those living with a residential dementia care need. The Pines has a maximum occupancy of 12, thus enabling the team to provide a consistent individualised approach.
Life at The Firs
Our home promotes a family ethos and we embrace everyone. Our team aims to provide a warm friendly atmosphere which is welcoming to all those who come to live with us, their family, friends and their pets.
We encourage our residents to engage in activities which are provided seven days a week in the home and in the community.
Home cooking and all dietary needs are accommodated.
The home manager with her team of nurses and carers maintain high standards of care. We prize ourselves in having achieved the Derbyshire snd of life award gold standard frameworks and options 1 + 2 in Derbyshire County Council dignity awards. We aim to make all of the end of life wishes come true from wrestling to bringing Las Vegas to us. We pride ourselves on fulfilling each individuals bucket list. We have previously been rated good by CQC and have recently had our routine inspection, which we are awaiting on a rating for. You can read the most up to date safety report, including how we are managing infection control around the home.
