Overview
At Rochester Care Home we’ve created a relaxed and homely environment for our residents, and provide them with high-quality care and support.
The building is single -storey and purpose-built with four areas. Each area has 14 bedrooms around a lounge/diner. You are welcome to join in activities in any of the areas plus you have the choice of gardens or our courtyards to enjoy.
As well as caring for you we care about your families too. Our door is always open for a chat, and our residents’ and families’ forum gives you a way to support each other. Plus, your family members are welcome in at any time, for a cuppa, or to join us for a meal.
Social activities
We place great emphasis on social activities and maintaining the type of life you have had at home, whether that is a quiet and relaxed lifestyle or an active lifestyle.
Animals are always really popular visitors at our home. As well as therapy dogs, we have larger four-legged friends in. On a sunny day our garden is a great spot for residents to have an ice cream, followed by cuddles with a Shetland pony or a donkey!
Being part of the local community is important to us. We want the people we care for to be connected, not isolated. We have church visits every week and often have local school children coming into sing.
We’re lucky in that we can borrow the minibus from the Napier Day Centre next-door, which is also part of the Agincare group. Trips out include the garden centre, and even the pub on occasion, if that’s what residents choose to do that day.
Dining
At Rochester Care Home you will be served freshly prepared home cooked meals by our team of expert chefs. They ensure all our meals are healthy, nutritionally balanced and, most importantly, locally sourced wherever possible. Meals are served in our superb dining room, but you also have the option for food to be served in your room for a more private dining experience.
Nutrition is an important part of the care we provide. That’s why our catering team take time to get to know your likes and dislikes before putting together a vibrant and varied menu for you to choose from.
Bedrooms
There are 56 bedrooms for people living at Rochester. All our rooms have ensuites or washbasins in the room. The rooms without an en-suite have accessible shower rooms and bathrooms nearby. Many of our bedrooms look out or have direct access onto one of our gardens with plenty of room to have a table and chairs.
The bedrooms are a blank canvas for you to personalise with your own photos, pictures and furniture to help you feel at home. It also helps our care team understand what’s important to you, help in building a warm relationship.
Gardens
We have a few well-kept secure garden at the back of the building with a lawn, flowerbeds and plenty of space to sit out.
When the weather’s good we like to have tea outside. There’s plenty of space to sit outside at Rochester – residents have a choice of gardens and courtyards to enjoy.
