Overview
Westlands provides long term residential care and short term respite care for older people and people living with dementia.
Designed as three separate households, the ground floor provides a home for 19 people, the lower ground floor 12 people, and the top floor is home to 10 people, accessed by a lift. Each household has a living area with a lounge, dining area and kitchenette, where residents and visitors socialise, and you'll often find our regular exercise classes and activities happening here. As part of our activity provision WCS Care employs dedicated Community Musicians who deliver one-to-one or group music-based activities. Listening to music has the power to unlock memories, trigger emotions and connect people. Regular music can keep the ‘emotional memory’ topped up.
Our Memory Maker minibus provides regular, local trips for residents, including those who need to use a wheelchair. We also welcome relatives on our trips so families can make new memories together.
People can make their own snacks and drinks in the kitchenette, and staff are always happy to help with preparing hot refreshments. There is a cafe in reception which is also a hub of activity where people meet for drinks and freshly made cakes.
Outside the house, our secure gardens have patios and seated areas, lawns and bedding plants.
Westlands also has a beauty salon offering unisex hairdressing and manicures.
