Lindisfarne Seaham is a residential and nursing home in the area of Seaham, which can accommodate 60 residents - it has a 'Good' rating from the CQC. Care can be provided for those with dementia. It is also suitable for young people with physical disabilities.
The home is situated on a pleasant landscaped site in the centre of the local community of Dawdon, Seaham; approximately one mile from the seafront and the town centre of Seaham. Referrals come via Social Services; care management teams and private individuals.
The home is divided into 3 floors - 22 beds on the ground floor for males with nursing and residential needs suffering from mental illness and dementia. There are 14 beds on the first floor for Residents suffering from Dementia. There are 24 beds available for General Nursing and Residential in 2 separate units. The lower ground floor consists of lounges, dining rooms and support services i.e. kitchen, laundry, etc. It has its own kitchen. Access to the garden can also be located form the 12 bedded unit. All areas have full wheelchair access and doors leading to stairs form the first floor are key coded locks to ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times. All bedrooms are for single use and have en-suite facilities. Residents and their families are encouraged to personalise them as they wish. The decor is structured to ensure a safe but homely environment. A choice of lounges, which are continually observed by care staff are available throughout the building. Lounges have different functions, relating to individuals needs. The larger lounges and more intimate lounges or seating areas are available for those preferring a quieter environment. All our lounges are spacious light and bright and lower ground floor have fantastic views of our well kept gardens.
Toilets and bathrooms etc are easily recognisable by the use of written and picture signs which are helpful to people suffering form Dementia.
Visual aids are used throughout the home in a dignified way.
The home is located close to Seaham's shopping Centre and seafront with many amenities including the Marina, restaurants, ice cream parlour, bars, cafes and the famous Tommy statue. Seaham has good transport links .
