At The Sidmouth Nursing Home, our top priority is providing exceptional nursing care services to elderly people, as well as residents who are under retirement age. Before admitting any resident, a comprehensive initial assessment is carried out by a qualified professional to ensure we can offer the necessary care required. Additionally, each future resident is offered a trial period to ensure they are comfortable in our home. We also offer emergency admissions. Our focus is on patient-centred care, which means we put emphasis on the individual needs and preferences of each resident. The home is proud to have been accredited as a Gold Standard Framework End of Life care provider, reflecting our commitment to providing exceptional end-of-life care services.

At The Sidmouth Nursing Home, we believe that the quality of our team is the foundation of our success. Our dedicated and experienced team is carefully recruited and trained to provide the highest standard of care. Led by six permanent staff nurses and supported by a bank nurse for absences, our team is composed of compassionate care assistants, senior care assistants, and nurse support staff. Our non-clinical staff, including a chef, domestic and maintenance staff, and a one-to-one activity supporter, ensure that our residents receive holistic care. We take pride in our family ethos and have received constant positive feedback from residents, families, and the wider community in Sidmouth. We maintain a low staff turnover rate, ensuring a continuity of care and a familiar team that provides a personal touch. All of our staff receives ongoing training to promote good working practices and to encourage individual development. We are committed to equal opportunities and currently have staff undertaking NVQ qualifications up to level 5 in management and leadership, as well as level 3 coaching and mentoring. The majority of our care staff are qualified to at least NVQ level 3 or equivalent, and we continue to invest in the development of our team to ensure that we can provide the best care possible.

There are a range of activities taking place along with one-to-one interactions with residents. We have staff members at the age range 20 to 80. All of them are responsible for giving meaningful conversation and one-to-one company with our residents and these include those who are bedbound, have Dementia, hard of hearing, are anxious etc. We have a very interactive Music session that takes place every Monday Morning. We welcome babies and animals when they visit as this adds to the well-being of all. Regular arts and crafts sessions to encourage residents’ creativity and well-being through craft work. There is a variety of music on offer according to residents’ choices. Musicians, a harpist, and vocalists regularly perform at the Home throughout the year. A Chiropodist and Hairdresser visit on a regular basis and Holy Communion Service is taken within the home. We also have activities specially tailored for people with Dementia. Residents are supported to attend special occasions if they wish. Residents’ special occasions are also celebrated with their friends and family. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time of the day.
