Overview

White Windows is a wheelchair accessible residential home providing support and accommodation for up to 25 individuals who have a physical disability or neurological condition. We support individuals who may have cerebral palsy, an acquired brain injury or stroke, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida or hydrocephalus, as well as individuals living with Parkinson’s or Huntington’s Diseases. Our dedicated team of highly skilled and trained support workers and carers have experience with PEG/NG care, wound management and the provision of end of life care. We provide support including personal care, health and well being, rehabilitation, community engagement, enablement and volunteering or activities.

All our rooms have tracking hoist systems and are over two floors accessed by a lift. We also have three wheelchair accessible vehicles to support individuals to get out into the local community. We have spacious living room and dining room for people to enjoy and quieter spaces around the home and beautiful gardens where we grow veg, herbs and annual sunflower competitions. We have lots of musical instruments and a Cinema Room with 120 inch screen, projector and sound system.

Other facilities are our accessible IT room, beautiful gardens, seven accessible bathrooms. We also have hairdressing and chiropody services and hold regular exercise classes to keep people active!

Our location to Sowerby Bridge means we have lots of unique shops, pubs and restaurants to visit alongside the lovely countryside and canal routes. We are close to Leeds, Huddersfield and other local towns with great access routes and transport links.
Our home also has an active Friends of White Windows volunteer group which has been active for many years now. They support the individuals living at White Windows and help fundraise to enhance our services and facilities. Alongside this, we have lots of links with the local community and individuals living at White Windows are actively involved in community life.
We have a range of different ages at White Windows and we are very welcoming and friendly towards all visitors and people living at White Windows. Our accessibility, our lively environment with space for quieter times, means White Windows can support each individual with their unique needs.
