Overview
Priestnall Court is an independent, family run Residential Home with 24 bedrooms and a rating of good from CQC. The home provides care for people over 65 years of age who are struggling to stay in their own homes due to frailty or illness including dementia. We can provide respite care as well as long term care.
The home is designed to provide a modern but homely environment with two large lounges, a dining area, garden room and a beautiful secure garden with a seating area, all of which are easily accessible for the residents. The home is full of natural light with large bay windows at the front of the property and high ceilings. Cleanliness and infection control are a priority and we have domestic staff working throughout the day and evening and an OTEX cleaning system.
We are lucky to be situated in the beautiful, leafy area of Heaton Mersey where there are cafes, shops, pubs, a cinema and a park on our doorstep which we make the most of on a regular basis. We have a creative team of activity coordinators who are excellent at coming up with new, fresh ideas to provide different experiences for our residents in groups and one to one. We also have external entertainment who visit including singers, animal therapy, an exercise class and pantomimes on a regular basis. Recently, further a field trips including coach trips to Blackpool Zoo, Chester Zoo and to the seaside at St Anne’s. Closer to home we have erected a log cabin in our garden which houses a café for those who do not wish or may struggle to leave the premises. Here they can have a cup of tea (or beer) and watch the abundant wildlife in our garden.
The bedrooms have a small seating area with the optional facility to connect to SKY TV and most rooms have an en-suite. Residents are encouraged to bring their own personal belongings to decorate their rooms and make themselves feel as comfortable and at home as possible. Rooms can be modified with equipment such as sensors depending on the needs of the resident and this is included in the cost of the room.
We have two cooks who create delicious, varied, home made meals and have plenty of experience in planning alternative menus for dietary needs. Residents are encouraged to eat in the dining room as it is a sociable experience but meals can be provided in their rooms and also one to one support can be provided during meal times where required.
Our staff pride themselves on providing compassionate, person centred care and enjoy spending time talking and listening to residents. Priestnall Court invests in their staff, supporting them to upskill and be the best that they can be, using their strengths and encouraging personal development to have the finest work force who work together to achieve the optimum outcomes for their residents. Our Registered Manager has been in position since 2018 and continually looks for innovative ways in which to improve the home and the service we provide. They have good relationships with governing bodies and other local organisations. They are located within the home and have an open door policy for residents and families to discuss any issues which may arise.
Every week we have the GP from Heaton Mersey Medical Practice come in to do a ward round. Our lovely hairdresser comes in once a week and uses a wet room as her salon and alternate months we have a chiropodist from Moorside Clinic visit. We also have a reflexologist visit once a month which is included in the activities programme.
If you have any questions or wish to visit please do not hesitate to get in touch.
