Overview

At Oxbridge House staff will promote and support individuals to live their lives as they choose. We will provide tailored support and care based on individual assessed need. We are responsive and flexible adapting to the changing and varied needs of our service users. We provide support and care that reflects the person’s individual needs including anticipated future needs. We are guided by the people who use our service, to determine what support they require.

Will promote and encourage healthy eating/diets (which will include all fluids) to all individuals taking into consideration health conditions i.e. diabetes and individuals’ choice. Oxbridge House presents to all the service users’ choices of a well-maintained diet and healthy eating choices. This is demonstrated through careful menu planning, healthy eating board displayed within the home, appropriate information on individual health needs and conditions. We provide Up to date board in easy read will be displayed and accessible to all service users.

Oxbridge House is situated within walking distance of Stockton town centre with easy access to facilities within the local community. We strive to teach and learn the skills needed to ultimately be independent in our lives. A few of the activities are listed here:

The property is a large, detached house with private a garden to the front. We aim to ensure that Oxbridge House which comprises of 11 en-suit bedrooms and 2 self-contained -flats is extremely well maintained, decorated, and furnished to a high standard which meets all health and safety requirements and care home regulations.

Oxbridge House is committed to developing a culture that values the service users. We feel it is important to involve people in this way because: All service users have the right to know who, will be entering their home and taking responsibility for their care, support and wellbeing that will be provided to them by the staff. We recognise that qualifications and skills are especially important to effective care and support, but also that the relationships which staff build up with service users are equally as important. We want service users to feel comfortable and confident that all staff we employ will have qualities of empathy, understanding and skills to support them to have a good quality of life.

All employees will have a willingness to work positively, respectfully, and effectively with service users and their colleagues and demonstrate their ability to manage changes in their work priorities. Oxbridge House prides itself on the support offered to our service users in accessing social activities, work placements and opportunities within the community. You can view some of our service users progress and achievements in the quarterly issue of the Milewood messenger or in their personal achievement file.

All service users of Oxbridge House will be encouraged to participate in monthly service users’ meetings. This is an open forum used to discuss, issues, ideas and suggestions raised by the service users. All service users have an individual hospital passport which will go with them to any medical appointments the hospital passport explains the service user’s specific health, needs and requests and medication. The Passport is written in a format that is easy read. Staff spend time with the service users developing trusting relationships and will treat all service users with dignity, respect, privacy and reassurance when visiting medical appointments.

We will pursue to deliver a high quality of care and support to our service users enabling them to live well, maintain their independence, benefit from their local community, and remain safe. Staff have shown both commitment and loyalty, putting their own wellbeing at risk to ensure a consistency of care and keeping the home operating at a high standard.
