Overview

Myford House Nursing & Residential Home is a residential and nursing home in the Horsehay area of Telford, which can accommodate just under 50 residents - it has a 'Good' rating from the CQC. Care can be provided for those with dementia and learning disabilities. Myford House Nursing & Residential Home also offers the following short stay services; respite care, reablement support and discharge to assess. We are fortunate here at Myford to have a highly skilled team of nurses including the manager and deputy. Our agency usage is minimal as we have a full nursing team. All our nurses have different skill sets and experience both general and mental health trained. They work collaboratively together and are extremely efficient at recognising changes to physical and mental health and referring to the appropriate outside agency promptly. Clinical governance is key to monitor falls, infections, wounds, weights, challenging behaviour, end-of-life care, and care delivery.
The PCS system that we use is an excellent tool to assist with close monitoring of clinical and care delivery. Close monitoring of this system ensures that any adverse incidents are reviewed timely, and the appropriate actions put in place and the care plan and risk assessments are updated. This results in swift actions for the benefit of the resident and minimises further risk. The manager and deputy closely monitor adverse incidences and refer to safeguarding where appropriate. Clinical governance is monitored regularly and monthly KPI’s completed. The manager will then complete a home theme and risk rating calculator. This will look at trends for example, the reason behind recurrent infections.
We strive to maintain good relationships and collaborative working with outside agencies. We have a fantastic rapport with the GP surgery and excellent communication. This is apparent when we require urgent support and reviews and particularly when a resident is commenced on an end-of-life pathway.
Myford House is a family feel community
