Overview
Situated in Wellswood, Torquay, Erith House is a small residential care community, with a maximum capacity of 21 residents. Key features of the home include its large, landscaped garden, and spacious bedrooms. This Grade II Listed building is steeped in history, and has many interesting architectural features, including an exceptionally wide front door, opened by a charming fairy-tale styled key!
The home has an interesting history. In 1854 a Trust was established in Torquay as there was a need for a superior home where board and care could be provided to the community during the winter months. The grand building that was erected in 1860 specifically for this purpose was named Erith House, and among its first residents were two patients sent from London by Miss Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing.
We’re proud to continue serving the community today as part of Keychange, a Christian charity.
Sam Vincent is the Registered Manager at Erith House: “I’ve been a manager here since 2021 and can honestly say we have an incredible team. Our residents are like an extended family, and we all work hard to ensure they receive the best possible care, love and companionship in our home."
If you have any questions, or would like to have a look around our home, please do get in touch - we'd love to chat with you! Call 01803 293736 or email erithhouse@keychange.org.uk
