Overview
Linden House Nursing Home is a residential and nursing home in the Lower Westford area of Wellington, which is rated "Good" by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We can accommodate up to 34 residents. Should all the residents wish to have their own, private rooms we can accommodate 30 residents but where people choose to share i.e. married couples, those with partners / close friends, we can care for 34 residents as we have several very large bedrooms. As well as caring for people who have chosen to make Linden House their forever home, we can sometimes offer respite care and reablement support to others who will stay with us for a short while before returning to their own homes.
We strive to keep strong links with the wider local community and to that end not only welcome a variety of visitors into the home but also become involved in projects in the community. We are currently working in partnership with Rockwell Green Primary School on the Archie Project - an intergenerational dementia awareness project which benefits both the children and those who live with us - and which involves some of the residents going to the school for certain activities and some of the children coming to Linden House for other events. We also welcome children and their carers from a pre-school every month to play games together and this is thoroughly enjoyed by all participants! Other links are created through visits by the church for services, by entertainers who share music, laughter, animals, art. What we do is driven by our residents interests and requests. Our activities team and fabulous volunteers take residents on trips shopping or to places of interest such as the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary or more locally to pubs or garden centres or art exhibits or talks by people with a shared passion in a subject.
Our 7 acres of grounds are available for all residents to enjoy with an accessible pathway, with seating areas, which winds across our front lawn and is much used by residents, visitors and staff all year around. While the front lawn provides stunning displays of snowdrops, daffodils, crocuses and bluebells during the year, the rest of the grounds are dominated by majestic, centuries-old trees while the 4 bee hives, resident squirrels, cuckoos, birds of prey, smaller birds and even deer mean that there is always something to watch.
Linden House is very family orientated and nothing evidences this more than our annual summer fete, during which the grounds are full of things to do, games to play, cream teas/BBQ/themed food to eat, music, entertainment and craft stalls to enjoy. Staff (and some residents) often dress up to reflect whichever theme has been chosen and everyone has a happy, memorable time. We often say that once you are drawn into the Linden Family, you never want to leave and this extends to residents, their loved ones and staff so we often welcome returning families and staff who drop by for a chat.
