Overview
Abbeyfield Lear House is a residential care home at 17 Darmonds Green, West Kirby area of Wirral, which can accommodate 24 residents - it has a 'Good' rating from the CQC. Abbeyfield Lear House also offers short stay services; respite care & day care.
The Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby Society, like all Abbeyfield Societies, is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making the lives of the older people easier and more fulfilling. We help people to live independently by providing a range of services, all of which are linked to the local community.
Established in 1964 our houses are situated just outside the centre of the village of West Kirby and in Hoylake, on the south coast of the beautiful Wirral Peninsula.
Lear House opened in 1963 and is a Residential Care Home managed by our registered care manager, ensuring the smooth operation of the home for the well-being of our residents. She is also responsible for organising the care staff who are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as the kitchen and domestic staff.
The house offers two-storey living; including a hairdressing salon, a large lounge and dining room and 2 smaller lounges, one on each floor. Lear House is designed to feel like a home from home. There is a spacious dining area, where the residents take their freshly prepared meals, and a bright and airy lounge with views across West Kirby. There are also two smaller lounges where residents can relax with a book or the crossword, or have a quiet coffee and chat with friends. Each bedroom is large enough to fit some of the resident’s own furniture, should they desire it, and all are fully en suite and decorated to a very high standard.
We aim to support our residents in every way that we can in order for them to live independent, interesting and meaningful lives. We have refurbished our rooms to ensure that they are dementia friendly, using specially designed furniture and fabrics which create a warm and relaxing ambience. We are audited against the Stirling University Dementia Audit Standard, recognised as world leaders in this field. Access to the upper floor is available via a lift if needed. We have lovely grounds for our residents to enjoy and have regular activities in the garden when the weather allows. Access to the Internet is available, which some residents find especially useful for keeping in touch with friends and family, and the staff are happy to assist with this facility.
