About Us

Powys House is a welcoming residential home specialising in supporting adults with learning disabilities. Set within a beautiful, large detached four-storey property built around 1843 from traditional Island stone, the home blends historic character with a safe, comfortable, and supportive living environment.

Powys House provides accommodation across 18 bedrooms, 17 of which have en-suite facilities with a sink and toilet, and two rooms also benefiting from a private shower. In addition, each floor has access to communal bathrooms to ensure comfort and convenience for everyone.

All floors are accessible via both the main staircase and a lift, promoting independence and ease of movement throughout the home. The property also offers wheelchair access via a ramp, and the ground floor — including the accessible shower room — has been designed to support individuals with reduced mobility.

The ground floor features a range of communal spaces designed to encourage both social interaction and relaxation. Residents can enjoy a large living room, a dining room for shared mealtimes, and a quiet lounge for more peaceful moments. Five bedrooms are located on the ground floor for those who prefer or require this option.

To the rear of the property, a small veranda overlooks the garden and provides a pleasant seating area where residents can relax outdoors, enjoy activities, or spend time with friends and family.
