Aims and Objectives of No Place Like Home
Our Service Aims:
No Place Like Home provides bespoke later life support to a limited number of private-only clients based in the Canterbury and Swale areas of Kent.
No Place Like Home's primary purpose is to provide companionship to enhance clients' quality and enjoyment of later life, with a secondary purpose to deliver personal care where required.
For this latter purpose, we are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission as a Domiciliary Care Service (DCC).
We are required to have a written ‘Statement of Purpose’ which forms part of our registration with the Care Quality Commission. If you would like to see this formal document, please just ask.
Description of Our Services
No Place Like Home provides services exclusively to older people (65+ years old) including those living with dementia.
Our support is tailored to each individual Client's needs and preferences.
Our Personal Assistants’ role is to help our clients continue to live full and enjoyable lives through supporting their individual needs ‘in loco familiae’ both within and outside the home.
Clients are fully involved in the selection of their own Personal Assistants as compatible and quality companionship is our primary concern.
Our Personal Assistants' role is wide-ranging and might include (but is not limited to) the following non-medical activities (which will be documented in each client’s Personal Programme):
Positively encouraging and supporting clients to undertake their chosen activities
engaging in quality conversation
accompanying clients out and about as required
actively supporting with hobbies
Looking after clients’ nutritional needs – preparing, cooking, serving and tidying away after meals
Maintaining a high-quality home environment – tidying rooms; light cleaning duties
Respectful assistance with everyday personal care – getting out or into bed; washing and grooming; dressing; bathroom duties
Practical assistance with physical mobility issues or disabilities – helping manage incontinence; helping clients in the use and care of physical aids and equipment
Supporting clients who may be bed-bound either permanently or temporarily through sickness
No Place Like Home is keen to promote the maintenance of Clients’ social networks and social activities.
Whilst we do not normally provide 24/7 live-in care, it is sometimes possible by special arrangement that our Personal Assistants may accompany Clients on short breaks away or provide one-off overnight assistance.
