Overview

Ashfield Nursing Home, established in 1985, is located just outside the town centre of Wetherby, a picturesque market town nestled between Leeds, Harrogate and York. The home is a converted Victorian house, with 28 bedrooms across 3 floors. It provides a safe, relaxed, and homely environment where residents feel comfortable and confident in engaging with their well-being. The home’s philosophy is rooted in respecting individuality, promoting autonomy, and encouraging participation. Residents are supported in planning their care, with their personal, medical, social, and spiritual needs met by a dedicated and compassionate team. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, Registered Nurse Associates, Team Leaders and Care Assistants who assist residents with all activities of daily living as well as monitoring and assessing clinical needs. Each member of staff is allocated to a Care Team who are responsible for completing assessments, care plans and reviews with residents and / or family. This also provides a core group of staff who are available to discuss matters with residents and/or family members

We have a dedicated Hospitality Team comprising of a Catering Manager, Cook and Catering Assistants who are skilled in preparing food and drinks to meet every nutritional need as well as ensuring residents who require special diets have the same meal and drinks choices as everyone else. Personalised homemade Birthday cakes are a speciality, making sure residents feel valued and included in preparing for their celebration.

The Hospitality Team also includes a team of dedicated housekeeping staff who ensure the home is kept clean and tidy, that personal possessions are treated with respect and that each residents room is maintained in a manner preferred by the resident. Laundry staff ensure clothing is returned clean and in a timely manner.

We have a dedicated Activities Lead who organises all events as well as ensuring life histories are captured and activities are varied and enjoyable.

Our Site operations Team make sure the Home is in good repair and ensure equipment is fit for purpose.

Every member of our Teams is an integral part of the service we provide to our residents and their families.

Ashfield offers residential, nursing, palliative, and respite care, along with specialist support for conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, COPD, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and end of life care. Each care programme is tailored to individual needs, ensuring residents receive expert support in an environment that respects their preferences and enhances their quality of life. Staff work closely with other specialists to ensure care is appropriate and in line with individual wishes. Specialists include GP’s, District Nurses, Speech and Swallow Team, Dietician, Community Palliative Care Team and any others applicable to an individual’s needs. We work alongside a dedicated GP surgery to ensure continuity of care is maintained.

Ashfield is a family-founded home, established by Jennifer L., whose passion for care began with welcoming residents into her own home. Over the years, her daughter Karen D. a Registered Nurse, took over as Registered Manager, building on Jenny’s philosophy of caring for people through promoting dignity, respect and individualised care. Karen D has retired as Registered Manager and taken on the role of Managing Director, maintaining her clinical role whilst supporting and teaching staff to meet the ever-increasing needs of residents. Registered Manager Kat F. continues to uphold the home’s values, bringing over a decade of experience and dedication to her role. Both Karen and Kat understand that for many residents, this is their final home and with that in mind, their focus is to ensure that all residents live well in a home that supports their physical and mental well-being for as long as possible.

Life at Ashfield is enriched with daily activities designed to promote physical, social, and emotional well-being. Group sessions such as gardening clubs or musical entertainment bring residents together, while one-to-one activities provide opportunities for personal connection and tailored care. The home also celebrates community spirit with vibrant events like summer fayres and bonfire nights, alongside more reflective and intimate occasions like Mother’s Day and birthdays, ensuring every resident feels valued and celebrated.

Ashfield Nursing Home is a place where residents can enjoy dignity, independence, and purpose in a supportive and welcoming environment. It is more than a care home—it is a true home where life is lived fully and confidently.
