• 1. Safeguarding • Adult Safeguarding – Protecting vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect. • Child Safeguarding (if working with children or young people) – Identifying and reporting concerns. • Frequency: Usually refreshed every 2–3 years. 2. Health & Safety • General Health & Safety – Understanding workplace safety, infection control, fire safety, and emergency procedures. • Moving & Handling – Safe techniques for lifting, supporting, or transferring clients. • Frequency: Annually for moving & handling; health & safety refresher every 2–3 years. 3. Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) • Hand hygiene, use of PPE, cleaning protocols, and outbreak management. • Essential for home care and residential care to prevent spread of infections. 4. First Aid • Emergency First Aid at Work – Basic first aid skills to respond to accidents or health emergencies. • Frequency: Typically every 3 years. 5. Fire Safety • Fire awareness, evacuation procedures, and use of equipment. • Usually included in induction and refreshed periodically. 6. Medication Management • Safe handling, storage, and administration of medications. • Understanding the Care Act / CQC guidelines. 7. Equality and Diversity / Human Rights • Promotes inclusive care and awareness of legal responsibilities. 8. Mental Capacity & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) • Understanding clients’ rights to make decisions and how to act if capacity is impaired. 9. Data Protection / GDPR • Handling sensitive client information safely and legally. 10. Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR • Essential for emergencies where a client’s life may be at risk. • Frequency: Every 1–3 years depending on policy.
