Overview

Allan House is a family-run residential care home for adults 18+ years with Learning Disabilities based in Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire (ST11 9JG). It is run as part of Every Sensation care Group who have an excellent reputation for being caring and reactive to the ongoing changing needs of our residents.
Allan House is a substantial detached property with nine bedrooms. All rooms are finished to a high standard of décor and personalised to our resident’s preferences. The vacant room is en-suite and situated on the ground floor. There is a lounge, ground floor dining room / kitchen and an upstairs kitchen. Residents are supported and encouraged to maximise their independence in a person-centred way that is meaningful to them. Allan House benefits from an extremely large garden area that enables a wide range of sporting activities and a place to enjoy relaxing outdoors. We have an allotment where we grow vegetables and then use them for meals, creating a healthy diet chosen by residents.

The mix of residents at Allan House certainly enjoy taking part in any type of community, social or sporting activities. Allan House is a very happy and welcoming environment. We enable and empower all our residents to achieve their full potential – socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Each resident has a detailed personalised care plan, risk assessments and person-centred support in place, all of which are continually reviewed. The residents at Allan House enjoyed going to Rudyard Lake and taking part in sailing activities. Some residents also enjoy attending ‘Oak Tree Farm’ and helping with a wide range of horticultural and farming activities. We also attend a wide range of social groups and enjoy disco’s, karaoke, singing, arts and crafts. There are also opportunities for horse riding, swimming, walks, the gym, football, tenpin bowling, sensory rooms, eating out, baking and the cinema. We plan for full days out to places like zoo’s, wildlife parks, and theme parks, depending on where residents choose to go. We have also enjoyed days with ‘small animals experience’ activities in the home.

We have vehicles at Allan House available for residents. Residents also have access public transport, as the bus stop is directly across the road and there is a railway station close by.

Allan House is conveniently located within Blythe Bridge with a nearby GP, health centre, pub, convenience store, post office, railway station, library, church, and Tesco all close by. The bus service is good, and the bus stops can be seen from Allan House.

We ensure that our staff have excellent knowledge and understanding and are highly skilled to recognise and adapt to resident’s needs, they take pride in going the extra mile and promoting their work as Dignity Champions. All training, advice, guidance, and support is on-going at all levels to ensure the highest of standards.

All of our person centred care planning is based on the “Freidman-Wiltshire Model” and the guidance of David Behan, Chief Executive, Care Quality Commission who states, “Health and adult social care should be designed around a person's individual needs and not focused on organisational structures, as these do not represent the reality of experience. As the regulator for health and adult social care, we support this vision for improvement”.

Every Sensation Care Group are passionate about the sustainability of the health and social care sector, we invest in the future of the health and social care workforce by providing work placement opportunities to help students get a better understanding of what it is like to work in the sector.
